The Embodiment of Creative Manifestation

Last week I was thinking about an article I was preparing. Somehow in the middle of that thinking process, I was reminded to a booklet I brought from Bali two years ago. So I then looked for the booklet and read it.

Actually at that time I only wanted to get the picture since the article I was preparing had a story of Parvati in it. I thought I would only copy the picture and used it in my article. But then my eyes caught the words and I couldn't help but reading the story of her on top of the picture. Then I knew something and I was delighted to read the story.  The story is a summary of an Indian film series under title of Mahadev that is now shown in ANTV. I like the film and have used some scenes in that film to write my other article with subject on teaching.

I wanted to put the article here. So anytime I want to be reminded, I can always visit it. My other article is in bahasa Indonesia while the booklet is in English. I'm kind of lazy to translate it into bahasa Indonesia so I just have to copy it here.

The source of the article is Kula - Desa Seni, A Village Resort, vol. No. 8, 2012

Here is the story of Parvati, the Goddess of Creative Manifestation

Parvati is the divine embodiment of shakti, the primordial cosmic sacred force of the universe. She is the mother goddess,  representing the unlimited potential of creative manifestation.  She is the incarnation of Sati, the first beloved wife of Shiva whose death led the distraught Shiva to renounce the world and go into a cave to meditate.

In Shiva absence and lack of will, the demons ran the devas out of heavens. Urged by God, Parvati was sent back to the world to restore order by enticing Shiva into action. It was not easy for Parvati to win Shiva's affection and bring him back to life. But she was able through incessant devotion, patience and tolerance; to hold the space long enough to reawaken Shiva's will and shakti energy thus restore the good in heavens and reignite the love in his heart.

Parvati represent the divine essence of love and grace incarnate. She is beauty in the face of sadness, reminding us that there is always a light in the middle of darkness. She represents commitment,  perseverance and devotion; the power to restore harmony between matter and spirit and thus ensure stability and peace in one's self and in the cosmos.

The divine consort of Shiva, the mother of Lord Ganesh, Parvati is the beloved goddess of marriage, motherhood and family. She is the embodiment of the awakened,  feminine spirit of the universal consciousness (shakti) that inspires us to dance the cosmic dance of potentiality into manifestation through every breath of life.
